Yesterday, I had the pleasure of going with Kristy, our business manager here at 94.1 KQK, a bunch of folks from Good Advertising, Skirt Magazine, Memphis News, Memphis Flyer, the Wolf River Conservancy, and Ghost River Brewery (very good local beer – Thing Global, Drink Local) on a trip down the Ghost River (section) part of the Wolf River.
I’m not a perfect describer of the situation yet, but let me just tell you this: IF YOU GO ON THIS TOUR DOWN THE GHOST RIVER, IT BECOMES CLEAR WHY WE NEED TO CONSERVE AND PROTECT WHAT WE HAVE IN THE WOLF RIVER – AS IT WINDS THROUGH MEMPHIS!
The trip was amazing…
Here’s just one nature shot!
Kristy took this very simple picture from our canoe. Check my new video here (thanks to Jonas from web dept. for editing all the random footage so nicely).
Please join me on September 12 here in Memphis on Avalon at Tutwiler for “It’s Cool to Go Green Day” with exhibits, bike repair, music, food, and so much fun! And you can help me help the Wolf River and preserve an important part of Memphis and the Mid-South! More here at the Wolf River Conservancy website!

No joke, the Memphis Redbirds did the impossible last night…4 home runs in a row (in the same inning!)
More here.
This is pretty cool. Steve and Karen will have a really nice extended interview session with Buzz Aldrin tomorrow morning between 6 and 10 a.m. Nice….
Had a quick chance talk to him today!
Listen here to Steve, Karen and I talking to good ole’ Buzz:

For those of you that have known me a long time, you are all too well aware of my love of baseball. Since the 90’s, I have been an Atlanta Braves fan. Since the teams arrival, I have followed the Memphis Redbirds. Even after I had both of my children, while my leisure hours to watch the game on TV waned, I was still pulled to the game with my children as they played.
Why is baseball my sport of choice? One reason, one man…John Smoltz.
When I got married, we got cable to watch the Braves on the SuperStation! J I had to find a reason to watch all these games with my husband. The team was loaded with superstars….Maddox, Glavine, Avery…..and those were just some of the pitchers. But it was John Smoltz that I was drawn too. I watched all the games, but every 4th game was the best as that was his night to start. “Why Smoltz?” my husband always asked. I guess I just thought he was cute. Turns out he was good too! Steve has always joked I would leave my husband for him. J Over the years I cheered for him. I dreamed of meeting him. But alas, the closest I came was actually attending a Braves game in Atlanta and watching him be presented a pre game award back in the late 90’s.
Over the years, my Braves changed. We lost McGriff, Pendelton, Lopez, Lofton, and so many more. Smoltz had injuries, changed to a closer, but still my enthusiasm was intact. Then when I heard he was no longer going to be a Brave, but at BoSox team member, I thought it’s time to make the move to the American League. We tired, but alas, that was short lived and Boston let him go. Then just yesterday the news came……
John Smoltz will be a St. Louis Cardinal.
Baseball allegiance in the Perrin house has now officially changed. Out with the Braves and in with the Cards. (Only fitting since we already enjoy our Triple A Memphis Redbirds.)
So, world today you have a new St. Louis Cardinals fan and one excited Smoltz fan….I think it’s time for a road trip to St. Louis!! J
Here’s the custom wall item 1910 created from a simple piece of “radio roll banner” and they came up with the colorful scheme, cd looking design, and the “dial” in the middle….

The Saint Louis Cardinals have always been my team, and now I may have a chance of converting our very own Karen Perrin into a Cardinal Fan!!!! Because….it looks like her boy, John Smoltz, is joining Albert Pujols, Matt Holiday, and the greatest team on the planet! Your 1st place Stl Cardinals!
