Boy George is back in the news.  No, it’s not for having the worlds finest “head” tattoos, it’s because the British 1980s pop star failed a High Court bid to overturn a probation order preventing him from taking part in the reality television showCelebrity Big Brother“.

Britain loves him, just about as much as American seems to these days…

Last week was a very exciting week, because I was promoted to the Program Director position for 92.9 FM ESPN (680 AM).  My passion for sports makes this a very exciting opportunity for me personally.  The even better news is I continue to work here at the radio ranch as the midday personality on Classic Hits 94.1 KQK (this will just be a behind the scenes gig!).

ESPN

So if you’re hungry for sports, please flip on the new #1 Sports Station in the Mid-South, and the ONLY FM SPORTS FREQUENCY @ 92.9 FM ESPN, or approx. 75 miles around the area on 680 AM.  You can also check us out at www.espn929fm.com.

Thanks for supporting my family by listening to Classic Hits 94.1 KQK and 92.9 FM ESPN.  I feel blessed to work here considering my passion for music AND sports.

Sincerely,

-Brad

#5:  Putting up the Xmas Tree with my family!

#4.  Driving with the family to see Xmas Lights while eating McDonald’s Drive-thru in the car.  You have to go see the Cockrall/Stewart Family lights in the Davies Plantation area… amazing!

#3. Watching the Arlington Xmas parade at our friends “The Barkers”…

#2.  Riding the Carousel with my son, Jake, and doing all the Christmas activities at Wolfchase Galleria.

#1.  Going to SY Wilson in Arlington to visit Santa with the family!  I love the old time general store type feel, as well as the “Claus” family that is there.

Good news for the family and fans of my idol, the late Jack Buck…  They are naming a highway after him in St. Louis!  My favorite Buck calls:

“Go Crazy Folks, Go Crazy!”

&

“I don’t believe what I just saw.”

He’s also respsonsible for the broadcast motto that if you hang around (a city) long enough, they HAVE TO like you… One can only hope!

Late, legendary ST. LOUIS CARDINALS HALL OF FAME radio voice JACK BUCK will be honored with a portion of I-64 running through ST. LOUIS being renamed the JACK BUCK HIGHWAY.  A ceremony renaming the road took place SUNDAY, and the road is being reopened TODAY (12/7).

BUCK, who passed away in 2002, called CARDINALS games on CBS RADIO Talk KMOX-A/ST. LOUIS for several years and also worked on network TV calling baseball and football; his son JOE BUCK is FOX SPORTS‘ lead baseball and football play-by-play broadcaster.

Wow, can you believe Thanksgiving is now just a memory and it is already December?  I know, I know…me either…..so, if you want to get into the holiday spirit, think Starry Nights. What is Starry Nights? Why, it is the Mid-South’s favorite holiday light display. It was a holiday tradition back in the 90’s- it’s been “dark” for 10 years- now back this time to benefit Shelby Farms Park Conservancy.

Starry Nights 2009 will feature more than a million environmentally friendly LED lights illuminating dozens of all-new displays along with some of your old favorites. Pile your family in the car and be ready to drive the mile and half long, winding road through Shelby Farms Park to see  (as they describe it as ) the dazzling displays come to life. At the end of the show, you can visit the Starry Nights Village. There you can buy the Starry Nights 2009 holiday cd (featring the voice of one Steve Conley,)  other merchandise, and even hot choclate.

Purchase advance tickets at any First Tennessee Bank and you can use the special entrance (no waiting at Walnut Grove)…prices are $20 per car…see their website for pricing details on shuttles, minibuses, etc.  Starry Nights runs through January 2nd.

Call (901) 767-PARK or go to www.starrynightsmemphis.com to find out more. :)
