Had so much response, thought we’d go with Round 2 of “What a drag it is Getting OLD”!

The dude on the right was hitting me up for ‘cigeratte money’ last week…

I guess it helps if you already look a bit ‘Fuzzy’ in your youth…:-)

From ‘Rod-the-Bod’ to “Help, I’ve fallen…”

David (no more Ziggy please!…:-) Bowie actully LOOKS BETTER!!!
I think the DRUGS have worn off by the time we get to the right side picture!
How did he maintain that EXACT pose for 40 years?!?

Back with more next week – from yours truly; The Guy with a FACE for RADIO!…:-)

My mom and dad from Illinois drove down to Memphis to visit this weekend.  It’s kind of an annual trip for the Youth Villages Soup Sunday, which was once again a huge success this year!  And where else can you see acoustic group Pam and Terry perform at FedEx Forum with Rocky the Redbird?

More than 2,600 people showed up for the 22nd annual event.

Half Shell’s lobster and shrimp bruschetta took the award for best specialty item.  Vanelli’s Deli’s Italian bread won best bread, while Draper’s Catering’s bread pudding with vanilla sauce won best dessert.  Silky O’Sullivan’s won best gumbo and Eclectic Catering’s Co’s spicy lintel soup with duck won best soup.  Tug’s Casual Grill rounded out the awards by winning “Souper Spirit.”

Shane Battier Returns to Memphis

The Grizzlies certainly looked like a playoff team Saturday night when my dad and I went to see Shane Battier’s return to the team at FedEx Forum.  Last night on TV they almost knocked off San Antonio on the road.  They’ll have a rematch tomorrow night at FedEx Forum.

Of course, we had a great time before the game with some great eats from Blues City Cafe.  I had the 16-ounce Memphis Strip and my dad chowed down on some catfish.

Afterwards, we saw our good friend Tim from “The Memphis Trio” playing at Silky’s (dueling pianos).

Hard Rock Cafe great for Kids

The family stopped into the Hard Rock Cafe after it was apparent my 3-year-old wasn’t going to take a nap at the folks hotel.  Believe it or not, it was the perfect place!  Loud, fast, lots of cool stuff to look at, and interactive!  Here’s some of the photo fun, starting with my dad and I “hamin’ it up” on stage.  Clearly we’re virtuosos.

And Jake even held the $2,500 Les Paul.  Please don’t drop it, son!

I’d be remiss if I didn’t bring up the Senatobia Beauty Review Stacy and I attended on Friday night.  We saw my niece, Shelby, who looked fantastic.  These things are always “judged” differently, so the results would vary if you did these competitions a different day.  But I give all the girls credit getting in front of 1,000 people and presenting themselves so beautifully!

So last night was pretty wild. You know the weather is going to get crazy in your town (in this case, Memphis) when Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel shows up in advance. As Karen Perrin said, “The only time a national weather man comes to Memphis is when Al Roker comes to sample the BBQ during Memphis in May!”   True…

On my way from Arlington to Millington to pick up our son, Jake, the straight line winds and hail forced me to pull over.  At the same time, Millington was getting pummeled.  So the sirens rang, stuff began to fall, and the power went out in Millington.  I arrived at “Absolutely Fabulous” just as my wife and her good friend who does her hair, Kelly, were in the pitch dark with my wife’s hair all wet with coloration product still in it, wrapped in a towel.  They were on the floor in the dark cleaning up “pooh” because as it went dark.  They obviously didn’t get my son Jake to the potty (he’s potty training).  Finally, after the poop was “somewhat” cleaned up in the dark, they had to rush to get the treatment out of the hair while I entertained Jake and talked to Kelly’s husband on the phone to reassure him everyone was ok.  It was a (I know, I know) “hair raising” experience.  I’m sure they found some more “pooh” this morning.  :(
