Trees are (FINALLY) in bloom! Redbirds about to ‘Play Ball’! The murder rate is going UP again in Memphis (well, 2 outta 3)…Soon we’ll all be pitching a hissy fit about the HEAT and STUPIDITY!

…And here I sit with nothing better to do than make fun of my fellow human beings (and myself…think i’ll go complain to HR about that Willie B weasle…:-)

Until then, a few photo-bombs to pass the time!

Brings a whole new meaning to; Yard Work!

Like YOU never wanted to combine Guitar Hero and a Spaz attack?!?

  Yep; The girl I dated…:-)
I thought they were just glad to SEE each other…

This pretty much sums up MY HISTORY of ‘THRILL RIDES’…:-)

And the bratty kid to the right, is undoubtedly ME! (You’d think I’d remember…:-)

Speeding up the workday – and the WARM WEATHER! See you on the radio at 2pm!

So I’m getting excited because in less than a week, I’ll be taking my portable radio studio/microphone on the road so I can be in St. Louis for Opening Day.  It’s not secret I’m a lifelong Cardinal fan, having grown up in the midst of Cardinal Nation (Mount Olive, Illinois).  But I’m hoping the weather gets a little better around St. Louis.  Here it is today from my folks house….

Seriously, it should be fun regardless.  I’m hoping it doesn’t snow, because my dad will not let me live it down.  There’s a little history with me and big events.  5 years ago when I took my wife Stacy and my dad to Bristol for the Nascar race… it snowed in the pits.  If it snows on opening day, there will be hell to pay.

A couple years ago when I “decided” I wanted to stay in the radio and broadcasting business despite changing times, I made a pact with myself that I was doing it to enjoy the good times and fun, to keep listening to the tunes and sports, and to smile more.  I think those are the same reasons why John “Bad Dog” McCormack was still broadcasting live on-air via ISDN on Rock 103 here in Memphis right up until his passing yesterday afternoon.  We’ll all miss Bad Dog on the radio in Memphis.

Here’s this week’s Top 5 Listings:

Monday (3/7), we found out that Phil Collins was retiring from the music biz, so it was a Phil Collins Top 5
5.  Take Me Home 4. Against All Odds 3. Easy Lover 2. You Can’t Hurry Love 1. In the Air Tonight

Tues. (3/8), it was “Wine” in the lyrics for lunch…

5. ELO – Evil Woman 4. Elton John – Honky Cat 3. Journey – Don’t Stop Believin’  2. Eagles – Best of my Love  1. Rolling Stones – Miss You

Wed. (3/9), it was the #1’s from this Date in Music History:  March 9th

5. Rod Stewart – Do You Think I’m Sexy (1979) 4. Temptations – My Girl (1965) 3. Van Halen – Jump (1984) 2. Andy Gibb – Love is Thicker than Water (1978) 1. Michael Jackson – Billie Jean (1983)

Thurs. (3/10), Five Calendar Events…think about it for a second (months/dates/years)

“Okay, I have just realized EVERYONE I know is on some kind of workout kick, new diet plan, marathon training or engaged in some kind of healthier living plan. Where is everyone (but me!) finding this sudden burst of motivation? Lol”

This was a question I posed I Facebook when I came to the understanding everyone I know is getting healthy. In case you are not on fb (or for some reason are not my friend …fyi you should be if you are not) I thought you might get a kick out of the responses.

Jill wrote: Mine came from getting on the scale after having a baby and realizing that Elliot did NOT weigh 50 lbs at birth…rut ro.

Chad: They will phase out.

Shelia: It’s the economy! Gas prices increasing daily, means higher prices at the grocery, therefore new budgets are created daily! It’s cheaper to eat and get fit at home! Just sayin’! LOL

Denise: I can’t find it either =(

Jill: fruits and veggies are cheaper than processed foods and eating in restaurants…

Tricia : My hubby is diabetic and one of my coworkers has just been put on insulin shots. I’m also sick of the way I look and am ready for a drastic change.

Pam: Spring makes us think of summer and summer = bathing suits and then I said, oh crap!

I responded: I have been trying to buy more organic natural stuff for the kids, good start right? Then I find myself at a drive thru! grr. And yes, summer is closer than we think. :)

Paul: l Hey, round is a shape. And oval.

Mandy: You can do it Karen! Come to the dark side with me! :)

Francisco: I figured out why I’m fat. The shampoo I use says, “for extra body.” I should use Dawn dish washing soap. It says, “Dissolves fat that is difficult to remove.”

I wrote: lol Paul and Francisco! Too funny! And Mandy each week you post your weight loss I wish I started when you did!

Paul: I wish y’all wouldn’t lose that weight. Some of us keep finding it.

Steve: Don’t wanna die young of a heart attack Karen! LoL! The spectre of death is great motivation!

Rob: I’m with you, Karen! The only exercise I see is the walk to and from the fridge!

Tim: Count on me to join your support group! We can all meet at the mall in the mornings and watch the mall walkers. We should be able to see them from the food court.

Debbie: Just start something and do it 5 days a week. Each time you will feel soooooo much better and continue too each day.. xoxoo

Becky: Oh no NOT EVERYONE ! I dont exercise and I ‘ve been sneaking my daughters valentine candy all week LOL of course I’ve gained a few pounds but there’s been too many good B-Ball games to watch to go work out and soon it will be time to do yard work so it evens out in the end :)

Suzanne: I’m trying to get going so I can keep up with all my tennis teammates who are 5 – 8 years younger than me. Spend all my spare time driving to and from Christian Brothers HS and taking the mom-in-law to all her doctors appointments that my butt has taken on the shape of my car seat!

Glen: I am now on the “Try to get your big butt out of the chair” work out plan! Followed by a brisk walk to the fridge then to the Pantry and back to the chair!

Janet: Um, not me….

Philip: Didn’t you watch Sunday morning on CBS. We are the generation determined not to get old:)

Cindy: If you find it, share it w/ me. I’ll do the same for you. My exercise is emptying the dishwasher and doing laundry and walking to your side of the building.

So, those were the many responses. What is a girl to do? Jump on the band wagon or keep making bad food choices and remain in denial. I will blog very soon on what I decide. :)

I don’t know why, but things are starting to get better!  What do I mean?  After cutting out chocolate and cheese from my diet over the last 2 weeks, I think I’ve “self diagnosed” away a couple of things that were giving me headaches over the last couple months.  Of course, that’s just in time for the crazy weather.  Cold.  Then 75 the next day.  Then rain (hopefully no snow).  Today it’s actually raining, 61 here in Memphis, but STUFF IS BLOOMING.  So much for the sniffles and headaches!  Actually, between Allegra and Claritin things are getting better, aren’t they?  Here’s a tree just down the road from the station.  They are ALL OVER, just in-case you’d like to powder coat your car.

But it’s a big weekend in Memphis, so that’s good!  We’re going to the Memphis Grizzlies game tonight.  The great part about having the Grizz playing so well right now is it takes a little bit of the sting away since the Tigers are kind of struggling this year.

If you’re looking for something cool to do after the game, go see my buddy Tim who does the dueling pianos thing.  I always give him shout outs because he and the Memphis Trio performed in-studio for the Classic Hits 94.1 KQK 1st ever Birthday Bash back in 2009.  I think he’s good luck.  And after all, it’s always lucky at Silky O’Sullivans…because every day is St. Patty’s Day!

Not only are the Grizzlies in town this weekend, but the Tigers wrap up their regular season tomorrow afternoon at FedEx Forum.  But if you’re just into the “experience” of baseball (and the weather is kind of looking like it’s going to be so-so), you should still check out the Tigers baseball team at their new FedEx Park facility.  It’s very cool and cheap to bring the whole family to.

Finally, we had some random Top 5’s @ Noon this week…. Today’s was my favorite.  Top 5 “Bad” Songs.

#5.  CCR – Bad Moon Rising, #4. Grand Funk Railroad – Bad Time (To Be in Love), #3.  Jim Croce - Bad Bad Leroy Brown, #2. Harold Melvin – Bad Luck, and #1. Robert Palmer – Bad Case of Loving You (next week on the blog maybe I’ll share my very quick Robert Palmer story)
