Soooo, Conley and Karen get the cool prizes; Tickets to Cheap Trick and Blondie Live at the Garden…and my humble show is supposed to get by; ‘on my good looks’?!?

In that case, cue the National Anthem – we’re signing off!

Truth is, they don’t trust me with sharp objects or prizes.

And I can certainly understand why. We use little white security cards to move about here in ‘The Willie B. Building’…so, deciding to reward my tacky act last week during my show, I decide to buy a soda. This entails walking thru a couple of check points and bribing off some Iraqi officials. That done, I mosey thru the alarms and doors, feeling as if I’ve parted the Red Sea! Made it to the kitchen, buy my soda – then it’s back to the radio show before the song ends.

One problem…

I lost that stupid card. Record time no less, took me all of 17 seconds to make it disappear. So there I was, stuttering and stammering (much like my show) to Becky at the front desk, confirming the rumors of my ignorance; I LOST MY CARD!

How to get back to the studio in time? Becky re-opens Door Number Two and I retrace my steps…all 4 of them…only I could hide that card so well, so quickly, so stupidly. Meanwhile in the kitchen, I’m scrambling for dear life to find that card as I’m hearing my career pass in front of my eyes.

Doh! It was right there on the white table…the white card on the white table that is. Fortunately, I made it back on air, and the show goes on. But I’m afraid after that stunt; I might lose white security card status. And unlike me –  it has fairly sharp edges!

Yes, I must admit, there’s something magical about Abba.  I still don’t like Glee just for the record.

The HEAT is getting HOTTER!

One of my favorite lines from the movie ‘Biloxi Blues’…and with record setting heat, you really have to wonder how in the world did people survive before air conditioning?

Not too easily methinks…

Ever notice every picture taken before World War Two, there’s never anyone smiling? Told you that heat was h-o-t…and perhaps, the lack of indoor plumbing, anti-biotics and electricity made Grandpa look like ‘Ole Man River’ in those poses.

Then again, in a hundred years, our descendants will look back and wonder ‘How Did They Live Without (fill in blank)’…so it’s all relative I guess. Relative like the Heat Index…:-)…an invention of The Devil himself…

But we may soon cool off with Tiger Football…whereas the ongoing thought process is; ‘How long until Tiger Basketball – where we might actually win some of these here games…?”

OK – one cool thing going on; George Kline is now on 94.1 KQK every Sunday morning at 8 – and it’s all about Elvis as only GK can relate it firsthand.

Really a mega-fan of GK…always a great guy with a good word. And ‘friend of the stars’ that I pretend to be; we even posed and took some pictures of the GK book displays for ‘Elvis – My Best Man’. Yep, sure did! Felt like real genuine tourists, smiling pretty in front of the displays at The Peabody and on Union. Pretty cool for George, he’s almost as popular as the ducks in the lobby!

And GK is so hot – he’s cool!! As for me, I’m ’so hot’…I’m melting…melting
